Buying a rod over seas

I currently live in Australia but am interested in a rod in the US. how do I go about organizing the freight of the car if I buy it? If anyone has done this, any help would be great. Also, what's the safest way to pay for a car overseas? What sort of guarantees do you really have? How do I know I'll get the car I've paid for or even get a car at all?? Any advise would be great Regards James
